Our client asked us to design alterations to their early Christchurch Warren and Mahoney home. The new work sits alongside the original architecture, complementing the concept and drawing the eye to the height of the room.
Materials relate closely to the existing timbers within the house, paired with exposed, powder-coated steel to give a refined, robust character. There is generous display space for the owner's mid-century collection of art and objects, allowing their pieces to become part of the design.
Careful alignment of the new joinery honours the existing plan, window placement and views to the internal courtyard, ensuring the additions feel integrated and true to the original home.
